ideas generation and collaborative projects

Collaborative platforms
Slack
  • Slack is a website that allows teams to collaborate together through channels and direct messages, the website connects the whole company and allows them to communicate.
  • Group conversations (categorise them) upload all documents- file types; sustain larger files and images
Crowdfunding: funding a project or venture by raising money from a large number of people who each contribute a relatively small amount, typically via the internet.
Crowdsourcing: involves seeking knowledge, goods, or services from a large body of people. These people submit their ideas in response to online requests made either through social media, smartphone apps, or dedicated crowdsourcing platforms.
Examples:
crowdfunding: Go fund me, Kickstarter
crowdsourcing: Fiver, Upwork

Sheffield soup- case study example
An example of a grassroots project- is a project produced by amateurs, increasingly distributed by social media
How does it work:
  • Individuals pay £5 to attend a scheduled event
  • They receive a bowl of soup to eat while they listen to a series of pitches
  • All funding generated from the door goes to the winning pitch so that the project can be developed and realised
  • The founder, Pennie Raven, initially floated her ideas on Twitter to get the project started.

Trending: when social media measurement tools flag the most popular hashtags and fastest-moving content, especially Twitter.
Social media aggregation: the process of collating the data of all your social media in one place.
Social media and search engine optimization: a major internet marketing strategy that involves the process of affecting the visibility of a website in a search engine. May target different kinds of searches, including images and videos, academic and news searches.
Social media measurement and Aggregation:
Finding out how many times a website has been visited, or how many times a project has been discussed on social media, is a vital tool for many media professionals.
Sites such as Back Tweets, Hootsuite and mention are designed for this purpose, allowing project managers to collate trending data on how many times a hashtag has been used or shared.
